Hallo Allemaal,

The Favorite Spot in Denton Texas.

http://stores.ebay.com/The-Favorite-Spot/ON30-SCALE-TRAINS-/_i.html?rt=nc&_fsub=5&_sid=13534603&_sticky=1&_trksid=p4634.c0.m14&_sop=10&_sc=1 (http://stores.ebay.com/The-Favorite-Spot/ON30-SCALE-TRAINS-/_i.html?rt=nc&_fsub=5&_sid=13534603&_sticky=1&_trksid=p4634.c0.m14&_sop=10&_sc=1)

Candy, I did my first one using a pointed push pin but the "point" caused some boards to split.
I now use a blunt point 'T' pin.
I just ground the sharp point off and now it puts a dimple in the wood. But I have to do it one hole at a time.
I use a ruler to guide the straight line up the wall with the pin riding against it. I also am now of the thought that less nail holes are better.
Also, remember, if you're doing clapboards, there is only ONE nail at the bottom edge, into the studs, every 16" or 24". Clapboards should not have 2 nails in them but regular flat siding would need 2.
I also add joints to simulate separate boards and put a 'nail' in the end of each board.

So far, all I have done on the caboose is what's below. The truck bolsters and coupler posts were drilled and tapped for 1-72 screws. The frame was sprayed with Floquil Earth for the base color and the "wood" color was brushed on with various acrylic craft paints. The decals were made for me a couple of years ago by longtime forum member Phil Klimczak using his ALPS printer. For the decking, I used some stripwood left over from other projects. (That's why the board color is quite different on one end, but it will be hidden by the caboose body when the body is built and installed.

Hey Ton,

http://www.youtube.com/user/scoopmmr (http://www.youtube.com/user/scoopmmr)
